Acupuncture

Acupuncture first started in traditional Chinese medicine systems. It became an important part of Chinese medicine about 3000 years ago.

How it works:
Ancient theories of Chinese medicine suggest that a vital force or energy called Qi flows through the body along channels called meridians. Acupuncture alters this flow to restore or optimise good health.

The idea of Chinese medicine is: enough vital Qi can keep away any evil Qi. Cancer is the accumulation of extreme evils. Using acupuncture methods to cultivate vital Qi, combined with cultivation, the possibility of cure is high.

Some western medicine researches shows acupuncture releases some of our own natural morphine like substances (endorphins) in the spinal cord and brain which relieves pain. Serotonin is also released by acupuncture. Serotonin is a pain reliever which can promote a feeling of wellbeing.

Why people with cancer use it:
The main reason people with cancer have acupuncture is to relieve sickness caused by chemotherapy or other cancer drugs.

Tiredness and weakness (fatigue)
Pain control
Nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy
Relieve lymphoedema
Dry mouth
Breathlessness
Hot flushes due to Yin deficiency or anti-cancer treatments
Acupuncture helps them feel relaxed and improves their feeling of wellbeing.

Acupuncture treatment of cancer has been confirmed by a large number of clinical practices to improve the patient's symptoms and prolong the patient's survival time. Among the cancer patients who insist on treatment, their tumor lesions have different degrees of shrinkage or disappearance.
